Peace, Hope, Light and Love

“Hope is being able to see that there is light

despite all of the darkness.”

~ Desmond Tutu ~

It has perhaps never felt more important than it does right now to consciously shine our light into the darker moments this world can reveal.

In the wake of what we have witnessed in our own nation on Bondi Beach, many may be holding feelings of helplessness, grief, anger, fear and deep sadness well beyond what mere words can convey. And yet, alongside this heartbreak, we so often see humanity rise - ordinary people becoming heroes, offering courage, compassion and love when it feels hardest to trust in the goodness of the world.

The ground beneath us can feel shaken. Our sense of safety and community momentarily unsettled. And still, our yoga practice reminds us that our light remains within - resting quietly in the heart of each and every one of us. Even if it feels like nothing more than a small flicker, it is there.

There is no light without dark, no joy without sorrow and once again, we are faced with the reality of this contrast - and with the choice of how we respond.

So we shine.

Again and again.

We shine.

No matter what unfolds in our own country or across the globe, that inner flame of light remains. Let every breath you take nourish love and compassion within you. And let every breath you release offer that same love back into the world.

Peace truly begins with each of us.
